Joe, with an Australian accent, called me and went through all the details of my move the day before. They give a half hour heads up via phone before they arrive and the movers worked hard and got the job done in a totally reasonable amount of time. They were flexible and agreed to add a stop to Goodwill and all of my belongs were safe and transferred with care to my new home and storage unit. Joe Thomas picked up the phone at Trek Movers and instantly made me feel comfortable and confident in his business. I was in the unfortunate situation where I needed to move ASAP, and Joe was able to accommodate that. He was extremely professional, confirmed my details repeatedly, and made sure that he was personally accessible to me. Because my move was last minute, I was told I'd be getting the first available crew that finished with their morning job. Joe made sure to call me and let me know that a three man crew would be the first available and would be reaching out to me when they were on their way.

My only critique is that the crew texted me instead of calling me to say they were on their way; I didn't hear my phone until they called to say that they had arrived. The 3 man crew took about 4 hours to move my 1000 sq. ft. apartment.

Joe and all of the staff were so professional and amazing. The movers that came were not at all upset when I told them the... read more elevator at my apartment was broken. They used the stairs and the other elevator on the other side of the building. They were so polite and we even had some fun conversation. The sooner, the better. We don’t impose any cancellation fees or rescheduling charges, so there is absolutely nothing to lose in a provisional reservation – and several money-saving tips to gain. Even if your move date is uncertain or in escrow, we are happy to pencil-in a date, thereby removing the worry of securing your most preferred slot. You can reschedule at any time, depending on availability at that time. Some move days are much busier than others – especially weekends, mid-month and month-end dates. These peak periods tend to become fully booked around 3-4 weeks ahead, so it’s best to plan early. After each telephone inquiry, we will email you a free, expert snapshot of your move which helps to iron-out any foreseeable difficulties and avoids a last-minute crisis. Even if you eventually choose not to book with us, our free move summary provides extremely useful information to use when shopping-around with other companies.

Licensed moving companies are state-regulated not to try to guess a move duration without a detailed visual inspection – which is usually impractical for each and every inquiry due to logistical considerations. State guidelines dictate that on-site estimates must always be offered for long distance moves (over 100 miles). For local moves (under 100 miles), we provide an hourly rate and a commitment to complete your project as safely and efficiently as possible, avoiding crew injury and damage to your items. In each case, we monitor your truck’s journey using live GPS tracking in an ongoing effort to minimize your drive time.As each move is so different, with so many unique variables, moving regulations prohibit companies from offering remote estimates (by phone or email). Such quotes are non-binding, and can prove wildly unrealistic. Therefore, we say be extremely careful if you are offered a hard estimate from any moving company by telephone or email. In some cases, they may ‘go low’ to try to entice you to proceed with the reservation: sometimes, the actual price can suddenly become much higher on move day. Or, they may ‘go high’ in order to give themselves a certain margin of error, thus allowing them to quietly ‘stretch’ time unnecessarily on move day. At Trek, we will never ever do that. In our experience, the best way to judge time is to simply observe your crew on move day. If they are working at a good, solid, reasonable pace (which they will be if theywork for Trek), then the time taken to complete your move will be what was actually necessary to move your particular consignment, across your particular distance, with your particular variables (packing, assembly, stairs, elevators, long walks) all factored-in.

People and pets are restricted both by moving regulations and insurance rules. Other items that should not be included in the household goods shipment include hazardous materials such as poisons, corrosives, fuels and flammables, as well as perishables such as refrigerated / frozen foods. To protect the health and safety of everyone involved, we will also decline to move anything we consider to be unsanitary. For items of exceptional weight (such as a piano, pool table, jacuzzi, aquarium or safe), we suggest a better fit might be a heavy-lifting moving company that typically uses specialist hydraulic equipment. As we mostly use raw manpower, our weight limitations are restricted to 300-350 pounds which is ordinarily associated with regular household items. All non-allowable items are prohibited by law.

We recommend keeping with you all the things you or your family might need on your moving day. Common items include a change of clothes, phone chargers, snacks, personal hygiene items, daily medications, and your kids’ favorite toys. Additionally any important documentation / paperwork (passports, birth certificates, bank account information and social security cards), as well as anything of high sentimental or economic value (cash, credit cards, art, jewelry, antiques, family heirlooms), must be transported separately from the moving truck.

As the resident of a property, the customer always has more control over parking provision than anyone else. The crew can only work with what they find on moving day. Pre-arranging a dedicated space for your truck – as close as possible to the access point where our movers will be working – usually represents a significant saving in terms of time and cost.We therefore encourage all customers to apply for a moving parking permit from your local city hall (or multiple ones for different locations). Different cities have different permit guidelines / costs which can usually be found online. Prior to move day, the city will post temporary ‘No Parking’ signs at your desired location, reserving adequate space for your moving truck (about 3 car lengths) as close as possible to your preferred loading / unloading points. As a result, time and cost is kept to an absolute minimum. Additionally, it is imperative that you check with your building management / HOA to be sure there won’t be any other fines or unforeseen difficulties associated with truck parking. If a customer chooses not to obtain parking permits, this can result in either (i) our truck being forced to park further away, thereby increasing loading times, and / or (ii) city officials ordering a ‘shut-down’ of your move due to inappropriate parking. Customerswho choose not to pre-arrange parking provision (at all locations) will unfortunately be responsible for any parking fines or tickets incurred as a result.
