Frequently Asked Questions

For health & safety reasons, local movers are not permitted to disconnect/reconnect appliances to any utilities supply (water/gas lines); toxic substances, paints, liquids and fuels for BBQ grills must be transported separately, not in the truck. Items of special value such as cash, important documents, jewelry are not covered by any clause within the moving contract. These items should be transported separately. Thank you for your understanding.

Your furniture is not only wrapped and padded for safety — we also protect your home itself. Trek Movers uses heavy-duty floor runners to shield hardwood, rubber covers for stairs, and padded door protectors to prevent scuffs. Movers carefully navigate tight spaces, doorways, and stairs to keep walls, banisters, and flooring spotless throughout the move.

We understand trust matters when inviting movers into your home. That’s why every Trek mover is professionally screened, background-checked, and fully trained — never day laborers. Our team is clean-cut, respectful of your personal space, and rewarded for providing safe moves without damages. This ensures both security and professionalism at every step.

Hiring a licensed moving company means you’re working with professionals who follow state regulations, carry full insurance, and operate under their own name — not as brokers or dispatchers. Trek Movers is fully licensed by the California Public Utilities Commission, covered by Workers’ Compensation, Cargo, and General Liability insurance. Our branded trucks, verifiable reviews, and real company crews reflect the reliability and safety you should expect when trusting someone with your home or business move.

In California, licensed movers operate under CPUC regulations that set maximum tariff limits and require transparent pricing. But not all companies play fair. Some carriers or broker-style companies hook customers with unrealistically low rates, then add charges for stairs, bulky items, gas, or even holding your belongings hostage. Real moving companies keep prices realistic because they hire trained, insured movers and pay for proper coverage. When the price looks too good to be true — it usually is.

If time/budget is your main priority, then pre-packing small, loose miscellaneous items by yourself is recommended to minimize your moving costs for a local moving (time and packing materials). However, if convenience is your main priority, then the crew will be happy to provide a full packing service, and your truck will be stocked accordingly with all required packing materials. Reusable packing supplies are included free-of-charge unless you would like to purchase them (for example, for storage or long-distance move). If moving out of storage with us, we buy the reusables back again at the same price. All upholstered furniture will be covered with plastic wrap free of charge, to keep those items clean during transportation and/or storage (mattresses, couches, artwork, and other furniture/larger items).

On one side, a DIY move can save your funds. But on the other hand, hiring professional movers will surely save your time as well as thousands of nerve cells. And again, advanced movers provide your relocation in the most efficient manner, so you don’t have to worry about your items, appliances, furniture.

The main challenge of most commercial relocations is the large pieces of furniture. For professional commercial movers, skilled and experienced is never a problem to handle even the heavy and unusually bulky equipment. We’ll disassemble the furniture and protect every piece with a special packing materials.

Truck drivers have specific rules regulated by the government on how much time they can spend driving each day. Depending on the distance and type of delivery move can take anywhere from 4 to 10 days. Shared truck solutions may last even longer. If you are driving yourself, keep an eye on how long you drive to stay safe and well-rested.

Fragile and hi-tech equipment usually requires an extra careful treatment during transportation. For many years, Trek Movers has been the reference in handling and relocating office equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, network equipment, and servers.

Professional commercial movers usually charge a fixed all-inclusive rate per hour. Trek Movers charges a set fee for a necessary amount of movers per hour (with no additional or hidden charges). You can check our prices at any time on our website – https://trekmovers.com/rates

Start with a base rate of $5 per hour per mover, then adjust the total for each worker depending on how happy you are with their service.

If your movers exceed your expectations and provide exceptional service, consider giving them a more generous tip.

For your reassurance: we do not charge for the crew time/gas traveling to your move; the clock starts when the crew arrive at your pick-up address (technically at ‘engine stop’). When mileage distance between move-out and move-in addresses exceeds 10 miles, we add a mileage calculation equal to the actual driving time on the day of your move(a formula known in the industry as ‘double drive time’; to cover truck wear & tear, gas, and crew time either to or from your move). For example, if it takes the truck 45-minutes to make the journey between your pick-up and drop-off points, we would add 45-minutes to the actual move duration to cover associated mileage costs (gas charges, truck wear and tear, maintenance, and crew time). Of course, actual journey time can go up or down on the day of the move depending on traffic conditions, so this charge cannot be predicted with complete accuracy.
